Hi, I'm Tom!
I’m a Sport Rehabilitator and Strength & Conditioning Coach from Lancashire in the UK. I began my career in professional Football, where I was employed as a team Physio, working with athletes to rehabilitate from injury. I went on to complete a Masters degree in Sports & Exercise Medicine, before seeking a new challenge and moving into private practice.
I worked in private practice for five years, helping clients to manage pain and injury, improve health and performance and to achieve their lifestyle goals.
I now work in Higher Education, as a Lecturer in Sports Therapy. I continue to work with a range of clients, from those just wanting to improve their health, to elite athletes.
Im my free time I enjoy spending time with friends and family, cooking, (attempting) to learn Spanish, sports and general exercise.
How I got Here
Professional Football
I started working in Professional Sport in 2014 with Fleetwood Town. I worked as the Lead Sports Rehabilitator for the Youth Team and was an assistant for the First Team. We were lucky enough to be promoted from League Two to League One at Wembley in that season.
I went on to work with the Under 23 Squad and had some great experiences, travelling around the country and working at some fantastic venues.
After several years I moved up to working with the First Team full-time. My main role was to work closely with injured players to help them to recover from injuries and improve their performance. I was fortunate enough to work with some fantastic people and look back on that time with fond memories.
Private Practice
Since 2018 I’ve worked in a private Physiotherapy clinic, helping people of all ages and backgrounds to overcome injury and achieve their goals. I’m lucky enough to work with a wide variety of people – from those who just like to stay active to competitive athletes.
My aim when working with any client is to develop an understanding of both them as a person and what they want to achieve.
I enjoy the variety of private practice and supporting people throughout their personal journey. I’ve learnt a lot from my clients and feel grateful to have contributed in some way to their story.
Higher Education
I now work in Higher Education, as a Lecturer in Sports Therapy. This involves helping students of different levels develop into competent, confident graduates.
I find teaching very rewarding and enjoy watching students develop. I’m very passionate about my profession and enjoy the variety that teaching provides alongside Connected.
My role at the University also provides the resources to keep on top of the literature, giving me the tools to help my clients with an evidence-based approach to health, fitness and injury management.
Thanks for following my journey so far!
